Aus.invest is an Australian newsgroup, concerned with all forms of investment, including shares, property, futures, derivatives and other investments. A "newsgroup" is a discussion group where people discuss a specific topic. It isn't the same as email, think of it as a kind of notice board where everyone pins up their articles for everyone else to read. You subscribe to a newsgroup with the software you use to connect, members of the newsgroup do not have any say in who joins and leaves. If you decide not to read any more please do not write angry letters to the newsgroup demanding to be unsubscribed, or demand to know why all these people are sending you messages, just figure out how to unsubscribe using your software, it is usually done in much the same manner that you subscribed in the first place. Protest as much as you like, other readers can not unsubscribe you, the most they can do is offer helpful advice (if you're polite), or hurl abuse (if you're not). All are welcome to post in aus.invest, but bear in mind that to be on topic, the discussion must be about Australian investment issues, there are overseas based newsgroups for discussion of foreign companies or issues that do not relate in any tangible way to Australian investment. Aus.invest is not a moderated newsgroup, but readers spurn "spam" postings concerning investment opportunities not relevant to Australian readers, and advertisements for services that don't apply in Australia. If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) doesn't have a facility to let you read newsgroups, you can access Usenet via the world wide web (WWW). You can read aus.invest via Google Groups, the direct link to the group is http://groups.google.com/groups?as_ugroup=aus.invest&hl=en Foreigners can post here if they have questions about investing in Australia, and Australians sometimes want to know about issues relating to their own investment in overseas markets, but if the posting is not somehow related to Australia, take it outside. Now that I've said that, if you do have a burning question about an investment related product, I think I already know what you are thinking! Please read the entire Ripoffs FAQ first, and then the specific articles in the Shares FAQ on trading software, or the Real Estate FAQ if appropriate, before asking the group if someone selling a $10,000 trading software package, expensive seminar or real estate deal is any good.
